The multi-channel list of websites will now have a new companion and this time it’s Wattpad. The ever-growing, online story-telling app is all set to launch its new version – The Wattpad Studios – which will provide its authors with a more digital, multi-channel opportunity to express their creativity.
This is a huge step for the story publishing app, reports International Business Times, as Wattpad Studios is about to collaborate with some of the biggest production houses and talent agencies in the market, such as United Talent Agency and Paramount Pictures. This will give the authors associated with Wattpad, who have already contributed more than 250 million stories to the platform, the unique opportunity to have their works transformed into larger than life movies or TV series. This also means a potential financial hike for the content developers by entering into fruitful print partnerships with the creative team of the app.
The head of Wattpad Studios, Aron Levitz told Mashable why Whattpad had an upper-hand over other similar apps in the market: “We have a distinct advantage over other social networks who trade in images or talent. We trade in the atomic unit of the entertainment and publishing industry: Stories.”
Aron further added that it was a safe bet to introduce this multichannel network idea and enter into a partnership with some of the prominent names in digital media because Wattpad happened to enjoy “quantifiable fan bases”. The loyalty of Wattpad fans cannot be debated as it clear evidence can be seen in form of Anna Todd, whose novel “After” currently holds 1 billion reads and 32 translation rights sales, making her a reigning star in the Wattpad universe. The young adult demographic is what the Wattpad hopes to attract towards its app, by offering them an opportunity to eventually become scriptwriters for movies or television features.
