The full length trailer of “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” is as grand as it can get. Nostalgia strikes when the background score of “Harry Potter” starts playing.
At two minutes and 41 seconds, the trailer is about 10 seconds longer than the longest teaser trailer, The Verge reports. The Harry Potter spin-off is based on J.K. Rowling’s 2001 book of the same name.
Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne plays the role of Newt Scamander, an expert on magical animals. “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” is a prequel to the Harry Potter series.
The new trailer dropped on Wednesday highlights the power struggle within the American wizardry community. Set in 1920s New York, Rowling’s new Wizarding World story centers around Scamander, author of a Hogwarts textbook, Hypable reports.
The latter is linked to Harry Potter’s story in the sense that probably his grandson Rolf marries Luna Lovegood. So, the trailer hints at the fact that Newt and Harry’s stories are more closely linked.
In a previous trailer, fans were thrilled just by hearing the name of Albus Dumbledore. He had opposed Newt’s expulsion from Hogwarts.
However, the new trailer of Fantastic Beasts shows the direct connection between Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) and a pivotal character in the Harry Potter series’ history.
Graves wants to break down the barriers between the magical and Muggle (or No-Maj) worlds. Gellert Grindelwald is trying to do the same in Europe.
Seraphina Picquery, the president of magic says that the two events might be related. She warns that a war may be likely.
Scamander will call on his former Hogwarts professor for help in order to defeat Graves. They both will work together to defeat Graves. The film is also the first in a trilogy, with the follow-ups hitting theaters in 2018 and 2020, according to IMDb. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will hit theaters on November 18.
