America’s Got Talent 2016 host Nick Cannon will be using the Golden Buzzer for the first time to make sure a contestant of his choice gets another run in the competition.

Cannon’s role will go beyond being a host. Since he is not in a position to criticize or influence the public vote, a Golden Buzzer press for him is definitely a good treat to fans. Cannon will reportedly “break the old rules” and run down to press the Golden Buzzer for a contestant with a very unique talent on Tuesday.

The privilege of pressing the Golden Buzzer was limited to the four judges during the past AGT seasons. But the franchise gave the host the right to press the Golden Buzzer after the trend that is followed on its UK counterpart earned positive remarks. The hosts of the UK show, Ant and Dec, have been using the Golden Buzzer for a couple of years now, Cartermatt reported.

The Golden Buzzer moment of Cannon will turn out to be one of the most memorable moments in the show, since it will be a first in  America’s Got Talent history. There have been other glorious performances on America’s Got Talent 2016, which convinced judges to press the coveted buzzer.

America’s Got Talent 2016 judge Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer went off for the 16-year-old singer, who survived ovarian cancer. Mel B used hers for Opera singer Laura Bretan, while Heidi Klum used it for pizza delivery guy Sal Valentinetti. Howie Mandel hit his for 12-year-old Grace Vanderwaal.

But the judges have used the Golden Buzzer only for singers. It is now time to wait and see who Cannon chooses to use the Golden Buzzer for. However, the four judges will still have the authority to decide whether Cannon’s pick should head to the next round, when he appears on the live show.
