MVP Stephen Curry was there. Memphis Grizzlies looked threatening at some point, but Curry’s brilliance in the third quarter bailed out Golden State Warriors at Memphis on Wednesday night. The reigning champions won 100-84.
Thedefending MVP displayed his magical skills. He posted 14 during the last five minutes to blow off Memphis. Warriors extended their narrowest one-point lead to double digits.
Curry’s sudden outburst took Golden State to match the 9-0 franchise best start. The MVP returned with 28 points.
Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph’s efforts brought back the home team in the game from a 15-point deficit in the first half. Gasol scored 26 points and finished with 7 rebounds. Randolph posted 19 points and 7 rebounds.
The game changed in the third quarter twice, and it swung both ways. Curry had five rebounds, too. Andre Iguodala chipped in 20 points and Harrison Barnes added 19 points to the winner’s tally. Memphis had no answer to Curry’s shooting prowess.
The Warriors are now the 19th team to start 9-0 in NBA history, the first since Indiana Pacers did it in 2013-14 season and the fifth defending champions to do so.
