Adele has been topping the charts since she released excerpts from her “25” album. However, her chart-topping reign may have been put to a shorter triumph as Jordan Smith, one of the contestants in the hit TV series “The Voice,” dominated the rankings when he sang “Somebody To Love” on the show.
As reported by People, Jordan Smith, one of the contestants in the much tuned-in TV series, “The Voice,” sang “Somebody to Love” by Queen, a performance that dominated iTunes rankings on December 8. Before the availability of Smith’s track, Adele’s “Hello” was the one at the top spot.
After Smith performed the song, one of the celebrity judges in “The Voice,” who also happened to be Smith’s coach, Adam Levine, announced, “I don’t need to say anything at all because that’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” When Smith was asked to comment about his coach’s input relating to his success in the show, the amateur singer said, “He is super involved as a coach. That’s not an act. He was just talking to us about our next song choices and takes the time to listen through the songs and find the right fit for us.”
Thirty minutes after Smith performed “Somebody to Love,” it went high up in the ranks, marking the end of Adel’s five-week spot at the number one with her famous song “Hello.”
Smith has been regarded as the leading singers in the series to have a good chance at landing the championship rounds. He has been dominating the charts other than his “Somebody to Love” performance ever since he joined the competition.
In other news, E! Online reported that the latest episode of “The Voice” marked the final four singers to compete for the show’s season nine finale. After an hour-long results show last Tuesday night, three singers, including Smith, were assured a sure spot at the live finale while three others were asked to perform to get a save from the judges. The save eventually went to Jeffrey Austin, one of the singers from Team Gwen Stefani.
Who do you think will be crowed as “The Voice” season nine winner? Will it be Jordan Smith who skyrocketed to the top of the iTunes charts whose from Team Adam Levine, or will it be from Team Gwen Stefani, Team Pharrell Williams, or Team Blake Shelton? Catch the live finale of “The Voice” this coming Tuesday at nine in the evening on NBC.
