It looks like Russia is done playing nice. After all, Russian President Vladimir Putin says they “see no positive response” when it comes to the country engaging in an international dialogue when it comes to security.
Morning News USA has previously reported that the U.S. and its NATO allies have been continuously holding large scale military exercises in Europe in order to prepare for any possible act of aggression by Russia. Previously, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has also confirmed that “four robust multinational battalions” will also be deployed to the Baltic States and Poland. Such forces will come the U.S., Britain and Germany while it is also hoped that Canada will provide troops as well to meet the battalion requirement.
Speaking at the State Duma’s plenary session recently, Putin said he believes that NATO is only “stepping up its aggressive rhetoric and aggressive actions” close to Russian borders. Because of this, he also says that Russia has no choice but to respond by increasing the “country’s defence capability.”
To date, Russia has been holding a number of military exercises of their own. Recently, its personnel with motorized rifle and tank units practiced “overcoming water obstacles” in Buryatia. The exercise was comprised of as much as 3,000 servicemen. Russia’s T-72B tanks are said to be capable of passing through waters five meters deep at a maximum distance of 2.5 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry had also said that its Special Task Force made up of 2,000 reconnaissance men have also recently conducted their own field training recently. It included attacking the enemy’s command center and detecting the location of the enemy’s firing positions.
Putin’s remarks comes weeks after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, “Russia will never invade any NATO member. We have no such plans.” Lavrov further explained that this is why NATO’s recent actions near their borders are unjustified.
