Video Reveals Suicide Squad’s The Joker In Full Costume
Pictures of Jared Leto’s portrayal of the enigmatic supervillain have been revealed. By the looks of it, the Joker – with his pale skin, bright green hair and red lips – will look quite scary.
Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn, the Joker’s love interest. According to the comics, Quinn is Joker’s girlfriend.
As reported by International Business Times, this is the first time Leto’s character can be seen in complete costume. In addition to his painted face and green hair, he is wearing a grey coat and black trousers.
In the pictures that have surfaced, the couple can be seen shooting for a scene where the Joker stops his car before hitting Quinn. The two engage in an argument before the scene takes an intimate turn and the two share a kiss. Quinn (or Dr. Harleen Quinzel at this time before she changes her name and transforms into the evil Harley Quinn) turns a gun on the Joker.
The wicked Joker then takes the gun from Quinn’s hand and slaps her to the ground, as per Entertainment Tonight.
Leto’s character also seems to be wearing tattoos. According to IGN, the pictures reveal him wearing the rumored tattoo that reads “Damaged” on his forehead.
Tremendous efforts have gone in to prepare for the role.
He told Billboard, “I’m trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours — and I’m terrible at eating a lot.”
Leto drew comparisons between the iconic supervillain’s character and one from a Shakespeare play.
He said in an interview, “The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character — that’s what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He’s] this beautiful disaster of a character — what a big challenge.”
Earlier this month, Director David Ayers posted the picture of the entire cast of Suicide Squad – except Leto – on his Twitter account.
The highly anticipated film will also have Will Smith as Deadshot and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. The movie chronicles the gang of comic book villains who take up secret missions for the United States government in exchange for reduced prison sentences.
The movie is set to release on August 5, 2016.
