‘Very, Very Graphic’ Spring Break Gang Rape Video Released
The Bay County Sheriff’s office has released the video showing the spring break gang rape that happened in March. The office said the graphic video (see below) was released to warn and inform the public how horrible the incident was.
“Very, very graphic”
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen said the video of the spring break gang rape that took place in Panama City Beach, Florida is “very, very graphic.” He said it is the “most disgusting, sickening thing” he had ever viewed in his career as an officer.
The video showed the rape happening in broad daylight while a large crowd of party goers were present. According to the sheriff’s office, the victim admitted to have been drugged at that time, and that she barely remembers the incident so she was not able to report it.
The video of the act was released “to show the crowd that was surrounding the incident and to show people, not only was it a horrible event, but it was witnessed by so many people who did absolutely nothing to stop or call police,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Ruth Corley was quoted as saying by The Associated Press.
Arrests were made
Alabama’s Troy University has already suspended two students in relation to the crime. Delonte Martistee, a 22-year-old senior from Bainbridge, Georgia, and Ryan Calhoun, a 23-year-old sophomore from Mobile, Alabama, were arrested, AP reported. The sheriff’s office said additional arrests are expected.
