Upgraded And Improved Samsung Gear VR Coming This Fall, To Be Sold For $99

The exact date is not known yet, but Oculus’ virtual reality headset is set to be released this fall and will be sold for $99. This new gadget designed with an intention to provide users a better gaming and 360-degree video experience will work with most of Samsung smartphones, especially Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, S6 and S6 Edge.


CEO and president of the IT and mobile division of Samsung Electronics J.K. Shin said, “Samsung has been at the forefront of delivering mobile experiences and [the] Gear VR Innovator Edition launched last year was no exception. We see virtual reality as the next computing platform, and we are thrilled to partner with Oculus on Gear VR to set the standard for mobile VR and bring this revolutionary product to consumers.”

This latest Gear VR is an upgraded and improved version of  Gear VR Innovator Edition. It is also 22-percent lighter than its older sibling. Listed below are few of the specifications of Samsung Gear VR:

While talking about this latest gadget, Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus, said, “Together with Samsung, we’ve redefined virtual reality and created the best mobile VR experience available today.” He further added, “On Gear VR, people are playing immersive VR games with friends, sharing 360 video experiences, and teleporting around the world with photos and videos—and it’s only the beginning for what’s possible with mobile VR.”
