Aaliyah unheard tracks shrouded with controversy

According to a report from E Online, there were already some attempts in the past to release these so called unheard songs of Aaliyah. In 2012, producer Jeffrey Walker had officially announced a second posthumous album. But Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton quickly slammed his announcement, saying “there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.”

In 2013, Chris Brown featured the voice of Aaliyah in one of his songs included in his album X. However, Timbaland slammed this saying that “Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me.”

There was also an attempt by Drake to use some of Aaliyah’s vocals for his album. However, the project was also abandoned in 2014 since Aaliyah’s family had also objected it.
