What's This?

uberfresh Uber Starts Delivering LunchUber continues to conduct experiments to expand its services. Today, the car service app is testing another revolutionary offering for its customers. The company has started delivering lunch to its customers, of course upon order.

The new lunch delivery service that is being tested is called UberFresh and it is tentatively offered in Santa Monica in California. Uber users in the area can now place orders by tapping the new UberFresh option found on the lower right side of their Uber app on devices.

Time and speed of delivery

Take note that the service is only activated from 11:30 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon. Upon choosing the option, indicate the location for the delivery, place your order, and wait until the Uber driver arrives in your doorstep.

UberFresh aims to deliver lunch in as fast as 10 minutes. However, because of the time, location, and other constraints, food delivery can be expected in about 45 minutes to an hour. The new experimental service offers a fixed menu with various selections every day. An order can cost just $12 per meal.

Possible expansion of services

In a statement, the guys from Uber said they are running this experiment to provide solutions to usual problems about falling in long lines to buy lunch. They said they wanted to help ease the tension of customers especially during the daily lunch rush hours.

This experimental service is just temporary, though. UberFresh will be available in Santa Monica until September 5. But Uber said it can be extended if the service goes well. Customers should also take note that this temporary service will not be offered on Labor Day or during weekends.

UberFresh does not require any delivery fee. Customers are also not required to provide any tip to the driver. They are required only to pay for the amount of the lunch ordered.

UberFresh comes a week after Uber launched another add-on experimental service called Corner Store, which facilitates delivery of common household items like razors, toilet papers, and body wash. This service also delivers several food items like chips and ice cream.
