Transgender Male Can Feature In ‘Men’s Health’ Magazine Cover
Leading by more than 30,000 votes, a transgender male is the top contender for 2015 Men’s Health cover contest.
Aydian Dowling has received more than 46,000 votes as of Monday afternoon.
Dowling is an activist and the creator of a clothing line called Point 5cc. He is also a video blogger and has a popular YouTube page.
If he is able to maintain the lead until the final date for entries, June 21, his picture will appear on the cover of the November issue of the magazine.
Dowling wrote on his contest entry post, “I maintain a healthy lifestyle by making sure my life is in a balance.
“As a Transgender Male, having a healthy body and mind is my ultimate goal to find peace within my soul.”
He has received tremendous popularity on Facebook, and his struggle and his achievements have become an inspiration for men worldwide.
A spokesman said, “We’re looking for a guy who’s physically fit, who lives a healthy lifestyle, leads by example, has overcome some challenges in his life, and somebody who our readers can learn something from.”
Men’s Health magazine said in a statement, “We are excited that the Ultimate Men’s Health Guy contest is resonating with so many people. Men’s Health is a profound agent of positive change in the lives of all men. We can’t wait to see how Aydian finishes with the reader vote — an important piece of the overall criteria in the contest.”
According to Daily Mail, Dowling began taking the testosterone medication ‘T’ in 2009. He lives in Eugene, Oregon, with his wife, Jenilee.
Public vote accounts for only 10% of the vote, according to the rules of the contest. A variety of factors – including fitness, professional success and lifestyle – are considered by the judges.
