Hulk Hogan “completely humiliated” after video was published


World Wrestling Entertainment longtime champion and reality TV star Hulk Hogan has been caught in a sex tape scandal, Reuters reports. Following the publishing of his secretly recorded tape on Gawker, Hogan is seeking $100 million in damages. He said he is “completely humiliated” after the video that shows him having consensual sex with the wife of his friend was released on the website.

Erin Andrews awarded $55 million in nude video lawsuit

Jury awarded $55 million to sportscaster Erin Andrews following a case she filed against the owner and operator of the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University and stalker, Michael David Barrett. While Barrett, who has served his prison sentence, will have to give $28 million, the amount the two companies will have to pay is roughly $26 million, NBC News reports.

Boston marathon bombing survivor dies in car crash

Victoria McGrath, survivor of the Boston marathon bombings, and her roommate Priscilla Perez Torres, died in a car crash in Dubai over the weekend, the Boston Globe reports. James Plourde, the firefighter who had rescued McGrath, was devastated after he learned about her death. In a statement, he said, “It’s been said that I helped to save her life, but the truth is Victoria saved my life after the Marathon as her love, support, and friendship helped myself and my family deal with the acts of 4/15/13.”

First uterus transplant recipient express gratitude to donor’s family, medical team

Lindsey, the woman who has been identified as the first person to receive a uterus transplant, said she was thankful to the donor’s family and the medical team. The surgery, which lasted nine hours, where 26-year-old Lindsey received the uterus from a deceased donor, occurred on February 24. People notes that Lindsey will wait a year before she can try to conceive through in-vitro fertilization.

Pedestrian deaths on the rise despite safer roads

A new study reveals that while the number of deaths of drivers and passengers has declined in recent years owing to safer cars and roads, the number of pedestrian deaths caused by vehicles continues to rise. The number escalated by 10 percent from last year, according to the Washington Post.

14 injured after Bay Area commuter train derails

Fourteen people were injured after a Bay Area commuter train derailed on Monday night, Los Angeles Times reports. The train, traveling between Fremont and Pleasanton, collided with a tree that had fallen onto the tracks. While four of the injured were in serious condition but did not sustain life-threatening injuries, the rest sustained minor injuries.
