Astronaut Scott Kelly returns after 340 days in space


American astronaut Scott Kelly has returned to earth after spending 340 days on the International Space Station. Floating 250 miles above the earth’s surface, NBC News reports that Kelly witnessed 5,400 earth orbits and 11,000 sunsets. He started returning to Earth on Tuesday. In all, Kelly has spent 520 days in space, setting an American record.

Super Tuesday: Trump, Clinton secure huge victories in primary

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton clinched big victories in the primaries, Reuters reports. U.S. networks projected the two frontrunners securing victories in seven states. The rivals for Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and Clinton, Bernie Sanders, vowed to remain in the presidential race.

4 injured after Alabama tornado leaves behind damage

A tornado that struck southwest of Birmingham left four people injured. While conditions of the wounded were not made clear, two of them were transported to the hospital, according to CBS News. Some of the damage include property wreckage and downed trees and power lines. There was no electricity in Dickley Springs Bessemer/McCalla area.

2 dead, multiple injured after SUV crashes into restaurant

Two people died and four were injured after an SUV crashed into a suburban Boston restaurant on Tuesday. Three others were left in critical condition as a result of the accident, New York Daily News reports. The accident, which occurred at around 6:30 p.m., involved the car crashing into the wall of Sweet Tomatoes Pizza. The driver of the SUV was alive following the accident.

Bill Gates remains the richest man in the world

For the third consecutive year, Bill Gates remains the richest man in the world, topping the Forbes list of Billionaires. According to Variety, although the net worth of Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has slumped from $79.2 billion to $75 billion, he found himself at the top of the list. This is the 17th time in the last 22 years Gates featured in the list. Meanwhile, there are 1,810 billionaires in the list, 16 down from last year.

Texas police officer killed in shootout

Texas Police Officer David Hofer was killed from multiple gunshot wounds in a shooting incident, FOX News reports. The suspect in the incident, which occurred at J.A. Carr Park, was shot dead by officers. His identity has not been released by the authorities. As a result two schools nearby were placed under lockdown.
