Brussels attackers planned to terrorize France again. According to Belgian prosecutors, the attackers were forced to launch attacks in Brussels instead as the investigation into the Paris attacks progresses more quickly than they had expected. According to a report from Reuters, many of the Paris attackers had lived in Belgium and had managed to evade police for over four months following the attacks.
Earthquake rocks Afghanistan. A 6.6 magnitude earthquake has occurred in the Hindu Kush Region of Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the tremor was also felt in Dushanbe, Tajikistan as well as Peshawar and Islamabad in Pakistan. According to a report from the BBC, at least one person has died in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the tremors were also reportedly felt in India.
100 kidnapped factory workers reportedly freed. At least 100 workers from the al-Badiyah Cement Plant had reportedly arrived in northeastern countryside of al-Dumayr in Syria after being freed from their captors. According to a report from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, they were released in the area negotiated with their captors. It is believed that ISIS was behind the said kidnapping.
President Obama declares April 9 National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day. According to the U.S. president, this day of remembrance aims to “salute the selfless service members throughout our history who gave of their own liberty to ensure ours.”
More than 100 die in Kerala temple fire in India. At least 110 people have died following a huge fire in a Hindu temple in Kerala, India on Sunday. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls the incident a “dreadful tragedy.” More than 350 people are also believed to be injured. According to a report from F. India, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has ordered an investigation into the incident. The fire reportedly broke out after 3 A.M. during a fireworks display that did not have permission from the local authorities.

Dallas TV personality stabbed to death by son. WFAA Daybreak’s favorite foodie Stacy Fawcett died Friday morning when she was stabbed by her oldest son McCann Utu, Jr. The boy was said to have suffered from a severe head trauma and has had mental issues since. Fawcett’s younger son, Josiah, was also stabbed and killed by Utu before he took his own life. According to WFAA, a public memorial service for Stacy is planned on Tuesday, April 12 at the Prestonwood Baptist Church at 5 p.m. At the same time, Daybreak has also decided to honor her by sharing the recipes she had emailed just a few minutes before she was killed. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been created to help fun the memorial for Stacy and her sons.
