Tommy Ford “Martin’ star died at the age of 54 in a hospital in Atlanta on Wednesday. The actor was kept on life support and hospitalized on Sunday for an aneurysm that ruptured in his abdomen.
Ford had spent several days on life support. His health was declining quickly, after an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen, Snopes reports.
The actor and producer’s talent agency confirmed his death, and released a statement from his family on Twitter.
“To all family and friends of Tommy Ford. We would like to inform everyone that our brother passed away today October 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Please keep his family in your prayers as they go through this challenging time,” a statement read.
“He was so dearly loved by so many and for that lets all be grateful for a life well served,” it said. The last moments of Tommy Ford’s death were chilling, Radar Online reports.
Less than one hour before his death, radio host Tariq Nasheed posted a photo from his bedside. The photo was originally shared by Tommy Ford when he was hospitalized for knee injury about two weeks back.
“Let’s continue to keep him in our prayers and send healing energy to him,” Nasheed wrote when he shared the picture of Ford. It was reported that Ford was recovering in hospital, but unfortunately for the actor and his family, the recovery was short-lived.
Tommy Ford is known for his roles in as Tommy Strawn Fox sitcom “Martin” as well as in the cop drama “New York Undercover” in the late 1990s. Besides, he had a recurring role in the comedy “The Parkers.”
In 1989, Ford starred in the Eddie Murphy comedy “Harlem Nights.” This apart, the actor played a role in “Across The Tracks” with Brad Pitt.
Martin Lawrence his co-star from the comedy lamented: “I lost a wonderful friend.” He called Tommy Ford “a great man and friend and mourned the loss of the star, according The Wrap.
