“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” lead actress Daisy Ridley has allegedly been handpicked to star the lead role in the upcoming “Tomb Raider” reboot. The original franchise was led by Angelina Jolie. Will she be able to fill in the shoe knowing that she’s a newbie in Hollywood?

With numerous reboots underway such as “The Mummy,” “Ghostbusters,” and “The Tick,” the video-game-inspired franchise, “Tomb Raider,” was said to follow suit. Deadline revealed that the reboot on screen has been under talks for years even when the franchise has had a remake in 2013 by Square Enix as a game.

The game was set in the earlier years of Lara Croft’s ventures as an archaeology student and the several adventures she took before she entered the big game. The said idea behind the latest game was said to be the inspiration that triggered the film’s producers to have a creative take for a reboot.

Daisy Ridley was said to be the first choice to take the lead role. She initially starred in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and is currently being praised for her fast journey towards stardom because of the film. However, there has been no official declaration released by the franchise as to the veracity of her participation. What’s confirmed is that she will be an executive producer in the upcoming “The Eagle Huntress” documentary.

In other news, The Guardian reported that Ridley has been facing scrutiny at present., especially with regards to her physique. Many speculated that she was allegedly inspiring an “unrealistic expectation” with regards to her role in “The Force Awakens” as being too thin.

She responded to the issue by posting on her official Instagram account that read, “I will not apologize for how I look, what I say and how I live my life ’cause what’s happening inside is much more important anyway and I am striving to be the best version of myself, even if I stumble along the way. It seems apt I get tagged in this a day after I received misogynistic comments on my [International Women’s Day] post.”

With current issues surfacing, would Daisy Ridley be, again, scrutinized as being ‘too thin’ to play Lara Croft in the upcoming reboot of “Tomb Raider?”
