Is the “Tomb Raider” reboot ready to start filming? Rumors say production wants Daisy Ridley to play Lara Croft. The actress is even up for it.
Ridley may have earned the spotlight rocking lightsabers, but she may be holding the big guns soon if the production team finally gives her a call for the Lara Croft role in the “Tomb Raider” reboot.
Last Sunday, Daisy Ridley, more known as the lead lady for the successful film of 2015 “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” attended the Empire Awards in London. There, she discussed the possibility of playing Lara Croft, a role Angelina Jolie gave life to.
During the said event, the actress allegedly admitted she has heard rumors on the possibility that she may be picked to play the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming “Tomb Raider” reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it,” she said.
When asked as to whether she would be able to fill the role if given the chance, Ridley said, “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar.”
In other news, Entertainment Weekly reported that the “Tomb Raider” reboot has been given the green light and “The Wave” director, Roar Uthaug, will be the one directing. The reboot is allegedly based on the storyline shown in the “Tomb Raider” 2015 version of the video game series.
During the interview, Uthaug revealed, “I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well.”
Will Daisy Ridley be offered to take the lead role for the upcoming “Tomb Raider” reboot? Will she give justice to Angelina Jolie’s legacy?
