The Voice Season 8 Crowns Sawyer Fredericks, Finale Suffers Lower Ratings
Sawyer Fredericks, a folk-soul singer from Fultonville, NY, won season 8 of “The Voice” on Tuesday.
Team Pharrel’s first win
The 16-year-old’s win is deemed special, as this is also the first time coach Pharrell Williams won the singing reality show.
Meghan Linsey of Team Blake Shelton won second place. Third went to Team Adam’s Joshua Davis. Another finalist from Team Pharrell, soul singer Koryn Hawthorne, won fourth. Winners were based on votes.
Fredericks is the youngest to win “The Voice” so far. He is awarded a recording contract with Republic Records. The other runner-ups won’t go empty-handed, though, as they each take home new Nissan cars.
Finale suffered lower ratings
Deadline noted that the finale of season 8 of “The Voice” enjoyed a 33% rise among adults aged 18-49 compared to its episode last week.
However, compared to its season 6 and 7 finales, the recent one fell short – 15%, an all-time low for what was supposed to be a highly watched final episode.
