“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 latest spoilers reveal that Nina Dobrev will be back as the ultimate villain. But rumors also claim that she requested Ian Somerhalder to exit the show as soon as possible.
Fans were left wondering if Elena Gilbert, played by the Canadian-Bulgarian actress, will be back for season 8 after her voice was heard on “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 finale.
In the cliffhanger finale, Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, was also seen going into the vault under The Armory where he encountered the evil that has been lying there.
Damon then mouthed Elena’s name, hinting that what he saw in the vault resembles his former flame.
Celebrity Dirty Laundry speculated that whatever he saw in the vault can either be Elena herself or a doppelgänger that would be bring more trouble than good.
The site claimed that this Elena lookalike might be the cause of Damon’s demise, hence, Ian Somerhalder’s exit. The site hinted the possibility that Dobrev agreed to return to bail out the flailing CW show on the condition that Ian Somerhalder will not be there anymore.
“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 showrunner Julie Plec has also confirmed that she wanted to bring back Nina Dobrev in its series finale.
“It’s what she and I kind of agreed on when she decided to move on, and it’s what I’ve got in my head,” Julie Plec told TV Line in an interview, adding that things might change as the season goes. However, she underscored that though Nina Dobrec was clear on her plan to move to the next chapter of her career, she still wanted to “bring her back at the very end.”
Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries season 8 spoilers say that with the possible return of Nina Dobrev is the exit of Ian Somerhalder.
Whether he leaves the show earlier than he intended, Ian Somerhalder had once said he’s ready for “The Vampire Diaries” to end.
“We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” Ian Somerhalder told the audience, as quoted by the event’s Twitter account.
The Vampire Diaries season 8 will return to CW this fall on October 21, Friday.
