‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Elena Not Returning, Nina Dobrev Explains Why!
As the date for the premiere of “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 approaches, speculations are ripe on whether or not Nina Dobrev will be reprising her role as Elena Gilbert in the upcoming season. However, the actress has taken to the social media to drop a hint to her fans and critics on the possibility of her return on the show.Advertisement
“And she gave no f***s. Not even one. And she lives happily ever after. The End,” read the post she shared on Instagram. The message is being regarded in its cryptic sense, which means Dobrev is not willing to bend to the pressure and return to play her previous lead role.
Returning on “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 would be like taking two steps backwards, which is not desirable for her career, after the amount of effort she has put in to make a place of for herself in the industry. She has aimed her focus on something that her former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder has failed to do, that is to become a Hollywood movie star, the Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported.
Since fans already identify her as Elena Gilbert of the “ The Vampire Diaries,” Dobrev is aware that it would be difficult for her to get a role in any other TV series. Hence, she wants to try her luck in movies. The actress already has several movies in the pipeline that includes “xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” “Arrivals,” “Flatliners,” and “Crash Pad.”
Her return to “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 would also raise questions about Elena’s relationship with Damon. In a recent interview Somerhalder hinted that if Elena returns on the show, her encounter with Damon would not be a romantic one. He added that Elena is unlikely to end up with one of the Salvatore brothers, TV Line reported.
Although the Salvatore brothers ruined Elena’s life, it is being speculated that Elena could play an important role in saving their lives, as the duo encounter a mysterious creature in the vault, the iTech Post reported.
