While several fans might have been hoping the supernatural drama TV series can continue until season 10, Ian Somerhalder already just an end to their dream. According to Us Weekly, during the WalkerStalkerCon in Nashville on Sunday, the 37-year-old actor announced that the series is officially ending after the eighth season. “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” the actor, who plays Damon Salvatore in The CW show, told the fans.
Currently, “The Vampire Diaries’” seventh season is still airing but it is expected to air its final episode on May 13.
Meanwhile, prior to this news, it can be noted that Kat Graham previously disclosed that she is already leaving the show after season 8, according to a separate Us Weekly report.”Season 8 will be my last season,” the 26-year-old actress, who is Bonnie Bennett in the series, said. “I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we’ll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family,” she added.
In the meantime, Hollywood Life dished that Nina Dobrev, who portrays the role of Elena Gilbert, is definitely returning for “The Vampire Diaries” season 8. “When the show ends Nina will be a part of it some way shape or form,” an unnamed source reportedly shared. “She is 10,000 percent coming back.”
