The Purge 3 Casting Done, Film Set To Release In July
The casting for “The Purge 3” has been finalized. According to the latest reports, Betty Gabriel, Edwin Hodge, Kyle Secor, JJ Soria, Mykelti Williamson and Elizabeth Mitchell will be joining the cast of the third installment of the franchise.
Universal/Blumhouse’s “The Purge 3” will showcase a new chapter of 12 hours in the government-sanctioned anarchy where murder is legal. The storyline also says that nobody can help if you are stuck outside.
“The Purge 3” is a micro-budget film where Frank Grillo will return as the star and James DeMonaco will be the writer-director. While the descriptions of characters are not yet mentioned it is expected that Gabriel will be starring opposite Grillo for the new movie. Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing the movie.
The first two films from the franchise were accepted well by the viewers. While the combined budget for the films was $12 million, they grossed to a total of $200 million worldwide. The second movie “The Purge: Anarchy” crossed $110 million and surpassed its predecessor.
DeMonaco said in an interview, “I never imagined that The Purge would become the phenomenon it has become,” adding, “and I am thrilled to continue my collaboration with Blumhouse, Sebastien Lemercier, Platinum Dunes and the great team at Universal in building The Purge into a worldwide franchise.”
The company sealed the deal for the third installment in October last year. The production of the movie is yet to start but the casting is already done. The film is set to release in July next year.
