Originally, the latest phone from the Canadian mobile manufacturer was spotted donning Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS in a video. After a few days, it has been officially confirmed that the latest phone from Blackberry will be running the latest operating system from Google soon, reports Christian Today.
The first Android phone from Blackberry first came out running the Android 5.0 Lollipop straight out of the box, reports Ubergizmo. It has been previously reported that the much-awaited upgrade of Blackberry Priv from the former OS to Marshmallow will be arriving in the first quarter of 2016. Now with the confirmation, the release time frame is almost exactly as announced.
Blackberry has confirmed the released to be in early May during its earnings call for the fiscal fourth quarter results. So far, no exact date has been confirmed but at least the month is given. You can just hold on to that piece of information until the Canadian tech firm releases more info.
Meanwhile, GSM Arena reports that while the final Marshmallow update for Blackberry Priv will arrive around the late April to early May, a beta update could be rolling out as soon as this week. The hint confirming the said news came in the form of a tweet by Blackberry Software Product Management Director Michael Clewly.
The tweet which was posted last April 2, Saturday said that “I’d talk about a #PRIV Marshmallow beta today but given #AprilFools you might not believe me! Gonna have to wait for next week.” Unfortunately, little info is known and there are no other released data on what the update will bring to the current Blackberry Priv.
