“The Last Ship” season 3 premiere of its episode 1 was scheduled to be aired last Sunday night but it was moved due to the recent Orlando shooting.
TNT decided to postpone its episode 1 out of respect for the victims and the families of 50 people who got killed in the massacre. The Last Ship season 3 premieres with an opening scene that features gun men invading a Vietnamese nightclub where they will open fire and kill several people, TV Line said in a report.
“As a result of the shootings this weekend in Orlando, tonight’s originally scheduled season premiere of The Last Ship has been postponed,” said TNT in their released statement. “Our hearts are with the victims and their families.”
The Last Ship’s premiere was set to release two episodes entitled “The Scott Effect” and “Rising Sun” respectively.
Reports said that 50 people were gunned down Sunday morning at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida by killer Omar Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce. At least 53 were also wounded from the incident, CNN said in a report.
Last Friday, singer Christina Grimmie was also gunned down in Orlando by a deranged fan.
TNT has still not given any confirmation to the rescheduled release date of The Last Ship season 3 episode 1.
Meanwhile, Heavy published the plot for “The Last Ship” season 3 episode 1, which reads, “Chandler is sent to Asia to probe a possible mutation of the Red Flu in the Season 3 opener. Also, Captain Slattery and his crew deliver a cure to Southeast Asia, but they might be heading toward an unforeseen threat.”
The Austin Television Festival also postponed the panel discussion on television violence to mourn with the families of the victims.
