However, USA’s path was riddled with plenty of scares and disturbances.
While Team USA breezed through their pre-Olympics schedule and continues to win their games in their 2016 Rio Olympics campaign, it has not gone as satisfactorily as they would have expected.
The U.S. achieved victories over China and Venezuela prior to their contest against Australia. Venezuela gave America a good run for their money, but their contest against Australia was far more difficult than they had thought.

Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving scored 26 of 28 fourth quarter points for their side, OregonLive.com reports. Anthony became America’s all time leading scorer, with 31 points to his name. He scored 9 of 15 from 13. Meanwhile, Irving contributed 19 points to the American tally.
Lagging behind the Australians at the break, Irving helped his side to recover and gain a lead over their opponents. He hit several shots, the most impressive of which was the three pointer after Australia had been able to shorten the lead to four points in the final moments of the game.

On the Australian side, Patty Mills was the leading scorer with 30 points on 11 of 22 shooting. Andrew Bogut, on the other hand, contributed 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting. As reported by SB Nation, Matthew Dellavedova had a double-double with 11 points, 11 assists and six rebounds in 32 minutes.
Team USA fared better scoring threes, which comprised of 44 percent of their total scoring, than twos. The Australians had more turnovers than the Americans – 16 as compared to nine.
At this year’s Olympics, the US is 3-0 in preliminaries. They are scheduled to play against Serbia on Friday and France on Sunday to wrap things up in the group stage.
