Sylvester Stallone Movies: Rocky And Apollo May Reunite In ‘Creed 2’, Actor Bids Adieu As Rambo
Rocky Balboa has been the most famous character among Sylvester Stallone movies along with Rambo. However, the actor announced that his role as the latter has come to its end. However, he will still continue to be Balboa after “Rocky” spinoff “Creed” went successful on screens.Advertisement
When “Creed” released on theaters late 2015, the movie grossed about $103 million at the U.S. alone. Because of the success, Sylvester Stallone, the actor who portrayed Rocky Balboa, the same character he portrayed in “Rocky,” announced that he will continue appearing as such for another installment for the “Creed” sequel, reported Variety.
MGM, the company that financed Warner Bros. release with New Line, is also interested in making a sequel out of the successful movie. In fact, MGM’s CEO declared, “There’s no doubt that we’re making a ‘Creed 2’.”
The production team may not be complete for the second time around since director Ryan Coogler of “Creed” may take up on the upcoming Marvel Studios film, “Black Panther.” However, it was revealed that Coogler and Stallone had talks about what they wanted “Creed 2” to be like, one taking a throwback to “Rocky,” the other, resurrecting Apollo Creed who died in “Rocky IV.”
In fact, Stallone said during an interview, “Ryan has ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together. Think of ‘The Godfather 2’. That’s what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious.” At present, Coogler has not confirmed his participation in the second franchise.
In other news, IGN reports that Stallone, unlike his decision for “Rocky,” decided to call it quits as Rambo. When asked by Variety as to whether a Rocky comeback would also mean that there could be a Rambo comeback, the actor said, “The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’ It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”
Talks about a “Rambo” comeback started to surface when it was reported that Stallone was open to the possibility of creating “Last Blood: Rambo.” However, Sylvester Stallone movies may only comprise “Creed” for the years to come.
