Sweeping North Carolina Wedding Photo Goes Viral
The world has been touched by the wedding photo of a young U.S. Marine praying hand-in-hand with his bride before the actual wedding ceremony. The bride and groom were not supposed to meet before they reached the altar. Not wanting to break the tradition, U.S. Marine Cpl Caleb Earwood and bride Maggie held hands around a corner, hidden from each other.
The groom has requested for the quick meetup in order to say a short prayer with his bride right before the ceremony. As soon as they held hands, Earwood began praying. He thanked God for the beautiful bride he was about to marry as well as the bride’s family he was marrying into.
Photographer Dwayne Schmidt took a photo of the moment. The result was a powerful sweeping image that went viral since being posted to Facebook on Saturday.

The photo has since been liked for more than 20,000 times on Facebook.
“I was lucky to witness such a moving moment let alone capture it. I have been fortunate enough to photograph several weddings, but this is a moment I will remember forever,” Schmidt wrote on his website.
Schmidt shared that everyone who have witnessed the moment were moved into tears. “As soon as their hands touched he started getting emotional. The whole room was full of emotion. I tried not to cry and focus on what I was doing,” Schmidt told ABC News. Schmidt said people across the nation have started emailing him, thanking him for the beautifully captured image.
“So many people are emailing me, saying thank you for sharing this. It’s what America is supposed to be about.”
The North Carolina bride and groom
The bride and groom, Earwood and Maggie, both grew up in Asheville and were friends since they were in high school. They only started seeing each other in a different light about two years ago.
“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will. I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with and the amazing family I was marrying into,” Earwood told Today.com.
“She’s so beautiful. I couldn’t help myself!” Caleb said of his now wife, Maggie.
“When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous. It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God,” Maggie said.
