Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 convertibles are without any doubt among the best laptop and tablet available in the market right now. Like any other gadget, these two products aren’t perfect either. Microsoft Surface fans who purchased any of these Windows 10 devices observed that there are Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book sleep problems.
If you have been unaware of these issues; here is a brief summary. These two Windows 10 devices, when put to sleep, were not properly getting turned off. This was further causing battery drain issues. In short, even after putting Surface Book/Surface Pro 4 to sleep, the battery was draining. The machines were not completely shutting down.
When Microsoft released a firmware update last time, everyone expected the Surface Pro 4, Surface Book sleep problems to be fixed. Unfortunately, the last firmware update did not target these issues. The good news is that Microsoft is rolling out a new firmware update in which Surface pro 4, Surface Book sleep problems have been resolved.
Microsoft announced the firmware update release on its Windows Blog. In the blog post, Panos Panay wrote, “Today’s updates include a set of Microsoft and Intel driver and firmware updates for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 that will help you get the most of the power management options that Surface is designed to offer and continue to make your Surface more productive.” Panos Panay further wrote in the post, “We are committed to continuing to improve Surface – to keep pushing out updates to make your device more awesome. And to continue to help all our customers realize the full benefits of the latest silicon and Windows 10. With that in mind, one of the most important steps you can take is to ensure your Surface is up-to-date with the fixes we post on Windows Update.”
With that post, Microsoft has assured that the recent firmware update should fix Surface Pro 4, Surface Book sleep problems, but only after everyone updates their system we will actually know the status of it. If we find out that the problem is not yet resolved, we will update you about the same.
