“Supergirl” Season 2, is it happening? This is still up for contention. Reportedly, the first season was not able to amass high enough ratings. On the other hand, it did manage to garner a steady following.

When the action-adventure drama TV series, “Supergirl,” premiered on CBS in 2015, the TV series had a rough time gaining audience. A large part of this was attributed to the fact that that it had a lot of competition.

“Supergirl” had to rival Ben McKenzie’s “Gotham” on FOX network, Charlie Cox’s “Daredevil” on Netflix, Chloe Bennet’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” on ABC, Hayley Atwell’s “Agent Carter” on the American Broadcasting Company. Moreover, “Supergirl” needed to blend in with The CW’s DC Comics universe consisting of Arrow (Stephen Amell) and The Flash (Grant Gustin).

Additionally, “Supergirl’s” final batch of episodes, including the season finale, were quite disappointing in the ratings game, as claimed by Screen Rant.

However, as reported by Screen Rant, the drama series Supergirl still made a name for itself. The American actress and singer Melissa Benoist, famous for her portrayal of the title character, Kara Zor-El or the Supergirl, set a record high with its premiere ratings and drew 14 million audiences. With Supergirl’s light and optimistic tone, it appeared that the show provided perfect counter-programming to the other superhero television series.

If the words spoken by Les Moonves (CBS CEO) can serve as an indication, “Supergirl” Season 2 just might happen. Moonves stated, “I believe all five of them will be renewed.” But, no words were up yet regarding the official renewals of Supergirl or any of its other freshman shows.

Meanwhile, Variety claimed odds are extremely likely that Melissa Benoist’s “Supergirl” will get another shot. Even the show’s ratings are way below over the early expectations for the show. It is still one of the most-popular new series on the network.
