Nintendo’s reveal at E3 seemed incomplete as the company announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokemon Sun and Moon but went mum on the most anticipated NX console. However, judging Miyamato’s talk during E3, it looks like plans for NX are underway and would probably be revealed along with a game title.
According to Gamerant, while Discussing about the two games during the press conference, Miyamato slightly digressed to talk about a new Super Mario reveal for 2017. “We’re always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you’ll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two. Maybe next E3 we’ll be able to share something,” he said.
Super Mario 2017 Game Could Bundled With Nintendo NX
While fans are more interested in knowing NX’s progress, Miyamato’s decision to confirm the new Super Mario may as well be connected to Nintendo NX console. Every console gamer would be aware of the traditional way of bundling a new console along with a new title.
If Nintendo plans on revealing NX with Super Mario, more disappointing news is ahead of us. It’s clear that the game is under development. But at E3 2017 fans can more or less expect a cinematic trailer rather than a gameplay or an exact release date. This in turn also delays details on Nintendo’s NX console.
It’s no doubt the next Super Mario 2017 game will meet our expectations. While the company is extensively working on redesigning Super Mario, Miyamoto also talked how the game’s mechanics is different from Zelda. “It’s kind of difficult with Mario because some of the more important conventions of Mario are based on the approachability and accessibility of those games,” he said.
If there’s a combined release of Mario and Nintendo NX, it hints a leap in the game’s graphics and the open-world environment we are familiar of. Many console titles in the industry have started to move past the previous generation consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Perhaps, this is Nintendo’s first move.
