Stiff Bull, a brand of herbal coffee that claims it gives men erection and vigorous sexual experience has been gaining patronage lately since its release in the market. But an FDA-led investigation showed it contains hidden ingredients that may cause serious health issues.
Not FDA Approved
An analysis conducted by the FDA after it conducted an examination of the brand’s international shipment has found that the coffee contains an unapproved ingredient desmethyl carbodenafil. It is similar to sildenafil, an active ingredient in an FDA-approved anti-erectile dysfunction pill Viagra.
The drug regulatory bureau has directed the public not to buy the same product as it may cause severe health conditions, especially when taken together with other medication, the FDA noted in an advisory issued this week.
“This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates,” the advisory reads.
Stiff Bull: Safe, Effective
The FDA issued the advisory as part of its intensified campaign to crackdown illicit drugs and food supplements that contain unapproved active ingredients that may cause severe health condition.
According to the Stiff Bull’s website, the herbal coffee contains Tongkat Ali, Maca Root, and Guarana as its main ingredients. These ingredients, the company noted, are naturally grown from the jungles of Malaysia and parts of the South East Asia.
“These Herbs grow wild in the jungles of Malaysia and have been used for centuries by the people of Asia and South America to greatly improve sexual health, libido, and overall wellness,” the company wrote on its website.
It added that the potency of its herbal coffee could last for up to 3 days.
