Starbucks, Teavana Recall Glass Tea Pitcher After Customers Experience Cuts And Burns

Teavana, together with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Starbucks, has recently announced that it is voluntarily recalling its glass pitcher model known as the Tristan Glass Pitcher (Style Number: 30593000064, SKU# 11034874).


The said pitcher has already been associated with a number of injuries following its use. To date, Teavana reports three cases of lacerations as well as two cases of minor burns. Meanwhile, the company also said it has already received as much as 50 reports of the said glass pitcher breaking or leaking. On the other hand, Health Canada says it has not yet received any reports concerning injuries sustained from the use of the said Teavana pitcher.

Teavana’s Tristan Glass Pitcher is a 64 oz. infuser and pitcher that can both brew and serve tea. The said pitcher is made with borosilicate glass while the infuser is made of stainless steel. It measures around 12 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Meanwhile, the lid and base of the pitcher are both made of flexible silicone. Moreover, consumers will be able to easily spot the Teavana logo located at the bottom of the pitcher. There is only one product model in the Tristan line.

According to Teavana’s glass pitcher recall site, customers who have purchased the Tristan Glass Pitcher are asked to accomplish an online registration form. Afterwards, Teana will send customers a return kit, which includes a box, bubble wrap, label and packing slip together with the return instructions. Moreover, on the said packing slip, customers will also be asked to indicate whether they would prefer to receive a free replacement 66 oz. infusion tea pitcher along with a $25 Teavana gift card or simply, a Teavana gift card with same value as the purchase price plus tax.

Meanwhile, Starbucks, who carries Teavana pitchers, has also issued Teavana’s voluntary recall statement. The company has said that customers can readily return the Tristan Glass Pitcher to a local Teavana store “with the exception of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport location in Dallas, Texas and Columbia Mall store location in Columbia, Maryland.”

Teavana’s Tristan Glass Pitchers were sold between May 2012 and June 2015. It retailed for about $50. As much as 52,400 Tristan pitchers are being recalled in the U.S. while there are 4,400 being recalled in Canada. The Tristan pitchers were made in China.
