Do Star Wars fans just can’t get enough of the film that they want “Star Wars: The Old Republic” running on Netflix as a series?
The highly-clamored show, which is also a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is said to be one of the projects that fans would like to follow on the streaming service.
Where do these fans draw this interest? What could be their reason for rallying a Star Wars title on the streaming on the American entertainment giant’s platform? Why Netflix?
These could be the questions that a number of people might have been asking now, especially if they are not privy of what “Star Wars: The Old Republic” series can actually bring once it will already start running on Netflix.
In a petition posted on Change.org, which already has a total of 73,237 as of this writing, the petitioner pointed out that presenting the well-loved sci-fi title’s back story would make it more interesting.
It was noted that “it’s about time that the stories from over 3,000 years before the Battle of Yavin be told to both new and old fans of the franchise” via the “Star Wars: The Old Republic” series on Netflix.
While it tells the stories of several characters, such as Darth Revan and Darth Malak, petitioner Jasmine St. Philippe of Naperville, Illinois said she felt that “it would do a massive disservice to us if these stories weren’t told.”
As to why Netflix should carry the re-telling of “Star Wars” history, she noted that it is about the streaming service’s track record, having produced big titles that include “House of Cards” and “Narcos.”
In the meantime, Cinema Blend reported last year that Netflix may partner with Disney to introduce a live-action Star Wars show. However, it was not mentioned if it would already be the highly-anticipated series “Star Wars: The Old Republic.”
