Star Wars ‘Old Republic’ On Netflix? Thousands Of Fans Sign Petition
Star Wars fans want the prequel to their popular franchise, “Old Republic” to be made into an original series and they would stop at nothing to see that happen!Advertisement
A petition has been created on Change.org which demands Netflix to produce a new original series which focuses on the “Old Republic” period of the cult Star War movies.
While this era has served as the setting for Star Wars based games such as “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic”, “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords” and “The Old Republic”, it has rarely featured in the Star Wars movies themselves.
The petition is slowly gathering momentum and already has 46000 signatures so far, reports Game Informer. But why choose Netflix to bestow upon the responsibility of coming up with what could be an iconic series?
“Why Netflix was chosen was because of the wealth of great content they have produced over the years, such as “Narcos,” “House of Cards” and especially everything that Marvel has done and is still currently working on,” states the petition.
With the Star Wars franchise grasping at straws to keep the craze and fandom alive, the Old Republic can prove to be a vital period in the Star Wars history providing sub-plots such as Jedi Civil War, the fall of Revan and the First Jedi Purge, reports NME.
An in-depth look at this era could also lead fans to get a better understanding of why and when the downfall started and why specific characters behave like they do.
However, Lucasfilm and Disney have to closely work with Netflix to create something as huge as “Star Wars: The Old Republic” and there have been no history of Disney working with Netflix to create original content before.
Moreover, there have been piles of petitions that have been registered on Change.Org but never come to any fruition, despite a huge number of supporters.
