In our last report, we mentioned that the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact launched in the US and their shipment has begun. Now, new reports show that the two smartphones got a noticeable price cut within few days of its release.

The Sony Xperia Z5 which was priced at $599.99 is discounted by $60, and is now available at $539.99. Similarly, the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, which is actually priced at $499.99 is now offered at $50 discount. As of now, it is not clear whether this is a special offer by the Japanese company or a permanent price cut. However, Sony’s decision to introduce discounts on the devices soon after their releases did not go down well with some people. Critics did not find the move convincing, notes Android Headlines.

Sony unveiled three phones in the Z-series at a press event in Berlin last year. Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium are now introduced in different parts of the world and the US joined the brigade recently. Specs-wise, there is not much difference between the three phones. All three of them run on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, have a fingerprint sensor and a 23MP rear camera with hybrid auto-focus, reports 9to5Mac.

Nonetheless, a few differences between the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact mark the characteristics of each phone, states Android Central. While the Sony Xperia Z5 has a 5.2-inches screen size, the Xperia Z5 Compact screen measures 4.6-inches and with lower resolution display. Another difference is that the Xperia Z5 has a 3GB of RAM, while the Xperia Z5 Compact has 2GB of RAM.
