Sonic the Hedgehog 2017 Release Date Confirmed?
Nintendo fans will have a lot of things to look forward to in 2017, as Sega will be unveiling the next Sonic the Hedgehog. The report comes directly from game designer Takashi Lizuka, who confirmed that the game is currently in-development.Advertisement
It’s been a rough time for Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, as its previous titles haven’t been able to meet the fans expectation. Moreover, most of its titles have been bashed by critics and gamers as well.
According to Gematsu, Lizuka announced Sonic the Hedgehog on Sunday during the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration in Tokyo. While the Sonic the Hedgehog released date will be set in 2017, it is still unknown on what platform it will be made available.
Before you drown in disappointment, unlike 2017’s Super Mario, Lizuka said Sonic the Hedgehog will be revealed with full details next month during the game’s 25th anniversary party on July 22nd in San Diego, California. Gamers can expect more information on its plot and perhaps a gameplay trailer featuring its new changes.
Currently there are other speculations suggesting that Sonic the Hedgehog will be an exclusive title for Nintendo NX. Earlier this month, Nintendo also confirmed that gamers can expect some information on Super Mario in 2017. There’s a good chance that two big flagship titles could be released simultaneously together with the console, but nothing is set in stone at this point.
The release of Sonic the Hedgehog looks like a desperate move, as they are aching to make a blockbuster release after numerous disappointments. The studio has failed to release titles that are as good as their 90’s video game in terms of popularity. They have promised to rekindle lost interest in their franchise, and the upcoming game could help them regain their lost glory in the gaming industry.
