Simone Biles: From Rough Childhood To Olympic Superstar
As a young child, Simone had quite a rough childhood, having been born to a mother with a history of substance abuse and criminal charges. Shanon Biles was even arrested a number of times while she was pregnant with Simone.
A few years after Simone was born in 1997, Shanon decided to sign away her parental rights to Simone and her youngest daughter, Adria. At three years old, Simone and her sister were adopted by their maternal grandparents, Ron and Nellie. Simone’s luck turned around soon enough as she worked her way into becoming the champion gymnast that she is today.
In Rio, Simone has managed to score a gold. Along the way, The Telegraph reports that she managed to be named the best performer in three of the four rotations. These included the vault, balance beam and floor exercise. Following her victory, Simone happily proclaimed that “dreams DO come true.”
Back in the U.S., Shanon has said she is incredibly proud of her daughter. According to a recent report from TMZ, Simone’s biological mother announced that she is now clean and sober. Moreover, she pointed out that she now has a good relationship with her gymnast daughter.
Shanon Biles Has A Long Arrest Record
According to a report from Radar, Shanon has had at least 20 arrests in the past 20 years. These include disorderly conduct, falsification, theft, assault, driving under the influence, criminal trespassing and drug paraphernalia possession. She was also arrested for DUI back in 2013, the same year Simone became a world champion gymnast.
Of her daughter and her Olympic achievements, Shanon said, “I just want to say I love you Simone … I’m so proud of you! Go Team USA and I’ll talk to you and see you when I can!”
