Simone Biles broke her silence about her ADHD and her leaked drug test results.
The 19-year-old gymnast’s name was recently dragged by hackers who leaked the results of her drug test which showed that she is positive with the use of banned substances.
The hackers got the leaked information from the World Anti-Doping Agency database.
Simone Biles reportedly test positive for the use of ADHD drug methylphenidate or Ritalin.
But ABC News said that the International Gymnastics Federation allowed Simone Biles to continue using the banned substance because she is using it for her ADHD medication.
The Olympian meanwhile took to Twitter to address issue, saying she has been taking the drug because she has ADHD that she got since she was a kid, US Magazine said.
Simone Biles also said she is playing clean and that she is conforming to the rules.
“Please know, I believe in clean sport, have always followed the rules, and will continue to do so as fair play is critical to sport and is very important to me.”
The gymnast added that she is not ashamed of having ADHD.
“Having ADHD, and taking medicine for it is nothing to be ashamed of nothing that I’m afraid to let people know,” she said.
Meanwhile, USA Gymnastics came to her defense saying Simone Biles did not break any rules.
“In keeping with official protocols of the U.S. Anti-Doping Association and WADA, Biles submitted and was approved for a therapeutic-use exemption (TUE), the proper paperwork for any medications that an athlete takes for an illness or condition that requires the use of a medication included on the WADA Prohibited Drug List, for prescribed medication(s) she takes,” the statement reads.
Simone Biles took home five medals from the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016.
