What's This?

Shawn Mendes ‘Illuminate’ album news quickly became the talk of the town after it’s drop date was announced. In a recent interview, he said John Mayer inspired this album.

Shawn Mendes’ Twitter account set his followers on fire when the singer posted his second album cover and captioned this with “Album 2!”

What is more interesting however, is the hashtag that accompanies this post, #IlluminateSept23. It seems that it is now confirmed that Shawn Mendes’ second album will be dropping on that date.

Fans cannot stop commenting how excited they are of the news, making #ILLUMINATE top United States’ twitter trends in a matter of minutes.

Many responded back on the photo and commented that they are very proud of the artist. The fans were commenting in Spanish, French and many more languages, showing how much of a worldwide sensation Shawn Mendes is.

The artist also announced that fans can preorder the album.

“NEW ALBUM Preorder NOW or on iTunes 7/8. “Ruin” out Friday when u preorder ,” he said.

Seeing how down to earth the artist is, this is not surprising. In a  Q&A session with CP24, the artist expressed how much of a fan he is of another crooner John Mayer. He also explained what this Canadian-theme tattoo means.

The “Stiches” singer explained that his tattoo reminds him of his home and his family’s love. “It’s actually a custom sound wave of my parents and my sister saying “I love you.” They recorded it. So (the tattoo illustrates that) I’m always connected to my parents and my sister. There’s quite a bit of meaning in it. It’s been a year now thinking about it. Last year I came up with the idea,” he said.

In the interview, he gave a preview of what his second album will be like and said this was inspired a lot by John Mayer, specifically his 2007 album “Continuum.”

“His lyricism is just unreal, dude. The words me and the songwriters say are: “What would John Mayer say?” (Mayer’s) “Continuum” is the album me and my best friends listen to in car rides or whenever we’re hanging out,” he gushed.
