Shannen Doherty has just confirmed that she is currently battling breast cancer. The 44-year old actress ended up revealing this to the public following a report from TMZ with regard to a lawsuit she recently filed against her business managers.

In the lawsuit, Doherty explained that the firm Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn & Johnson took 5% of her earnings as a fee for managing her finances. This includes managing the payment of her medical insurance to SAG.

Doherty’s medical insurance went unpaid

Doherty then claimed that the said firm ignored an invoice for a payment for her medical insurance premium back in 2014. As a result, her insurance was cancelled and she could not enroll again until 2015. During this period, the actress said she did not visit doctors as regularly as she usually does.

Upon getting her insurance back, Doherty visited a doctor in March 2015. At the time, the actress said she discovered that she had “invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node.” Moreover, the doctors had advised her that the cancer had actually spread during 2014 and around the time when she was uninsured.

Now, she blames the firm that allegedly neglected her insurance payment for her cancer. Moreover, People reports that the lawsuit also states that Doherty has not been able to work since her diagnosis while she continues to accumulate medical expenses.

Nonetheless, the “Charmed” actress seems to be in good spirits as she continues treatment. She tells People, “I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life.”

Meanwhile, a rep for the firm Doherty is suing has just told TMZ that they are very sad to learn that the actress is dealing with cancer. However, they also believe that the claim that they got her uninsured and ended up contributing to her getting cancer is “patently false.”
