On Wednesday, United States senator from Nevada and member of the Democratic Party Harry Reid stated that he endorses presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination over his colleague Bernie Sanders.

The Nevada Democrat said, “Hillary Clinton has spent decades fighting for middle class Americans and standing up for our nation’s values at home and abroad. Hillary Clinton is the right person to be the first woman president of the United States, and she is the best person to lead the United States.”

Senator Harry Reid issued a plea for his Democratic party to stand behind former First Lady Clinton, who has trouble fending off an insurgent campaign from Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.

Senator Reid, who has served as Senate Minority Leader since January 2015, thinks that the middle class of America would be better served by the secretary of state and senator from New York, Hillary Clinton.

Senator Reid said that collaborating with Clinton over the years has been something he have looked upon with respect. Senator Reid has been in favor of Hillary Clinton since she “started the trend toward looking to do something about health care.” And as the former First Lady was at the forefront of health care during that administration, Hillary Clinton understood the issue well.

Harry Reid is a powerful influence in Nevada Democratic politics, and his endorsement could potentially boost the victory margin of Hillary Clinton.

People close to the senator say that Reid never seriously contemplated a public endorsement.

A spokesman of Senator Reid stated, “Clinton would be the best choice for the middle class.”
