Following the anticipated blockbuster success of “Captain America: Civil War,” a Scarlett Johansson solo movie as Black Widow is something that fans may look forward to, recent reports claimed.
Based on the results of the survey conducted by ticket site Fandango.com and commissioned by USA Today, 48 percent of the 1,000 moviegoers who have bought “Captain America” tickets revealed that they want to see the secret agent of the Avengers in a standalone film.
Next to the 31-year-old actress’ character was Paul Bettany’s android Vision wherein 15 percent of the respondents declared that they want Marvel to come up with a project with him as the lead star. Meanwhile, 12 percent of those surveyed voted for Anthony Mackie’s winged Falcon, 10 percent for Jeremy Renner’s ace archer Hawkeye, eight percent for Don Cheadle’s armored War Machine and seven percent for Elizabeth Olsen’s magical heroine Scarlet Witch.
Considering this demand from moviegoers, would Marvel heed their call? What could be the plot for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow film? Would it include her love affair with Hulk?
In an interview with Los Angeles Times, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” director Joss Whedon once talked about the development that he wants to happen to the actress’ character. This could have hinted about the possibility of considering a back story between Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner for the anticipated movie of “The Avengers” actress.
Being a spy who left U.S.S.R. secret ops to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and later the Avengers Initiative, Black Widow surely has a history worth talking about.
“She’s defined by [pain] in a way that she generally doesn’t show, and when she gets to, it’s very affecting,” the director noted especially with the negative comments thrown at how he projected Scarlett Johansson’s role. “I think we went deeper with her than with anybody else.”
In the meantime, when it comes to her love story with Hulk, Whedon had this to say, “We talked a little about the chemistry they had, just together in their scenes, and then I think it started with the lullaby.”
“Like, ‘If you have the Hulk on the team, you know what would be cool is if Natasha’s the one who could talk him down,’” he added.
Do you think the love story of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and the gigantic green humanoid would grow further in the rumored film?
