‘Scandal’ Season 6 Release Date: Kerry Washington Pregnancy Delays Show
Fans of popular political drama “Scandal” will have to hold on to the edge of their seats a little longer, for the next season of the show has been pushed back owing to Kerry Washington’s second pregnancy. It will not be released in the fall and have lesser number of episodes.Advertisement
‘Scandal’ Season 6 Premiere Date
Sure, the creators of Scandal had managed to hide the first pregnancy of Kerry Washington, who plays the character of Olivia Pope, while filming Season 3 of the show, but they do not plan to do that again. If shows like Friends and How I Met Your Mother were any indication, hiding real-life pregnancies of actresses who play regulars on the shows is not an easy job.
But one can’t really do much other than camouflage the growing belly of the actress, especially when the show is not ready for the particular actress to have a baby yet. This is normally done by strategically placing big objects around the set to block the view of the actress from chest-down, or have her carry puffy purses on her shoulders. And that is pretty much what the makers of Scandal had to do for their protagonist in Season 3.
Actress Kerry Washington gave birth to her first child, Isabella, soon after Scandal season 3 wrapped up, reports Melty. It has been confirmed by the chief of the network, Channing Dungey, that the actress is expecting her second baby, and that is the reason the release of the show is being pushed back, past the fall.
‘Scandal’ Season 6 Air Date
In a press conference, Dungey confirmed, “We did have to make some adjustments to Scandal for a variety of reasons that had to do with the production schedule.”
Also, the show will have fewer episodes, which is being reduced from 22 episodes, as was originally decided, to 16 episodes, reports TV Line.
