 “Scandal” season 6 will be delayed for release until next year and not this October as what fans have been accustomed to in its last four seasons.


Is it because lead actress Kerry Washington, who plays as Olivia Pope, is the reason for “Scandal” season 6 being delayed? Isn’t she ready to work again for the new season?

Reports have confirmed that “Scandal” season 6 will not be shown this fall due to the actress’ pregnancy.

The 39-year-old actress is expecting her second child from husband Nnamdi Asomugha.

Variety said that “Scandal” season 6 will be delayed until next year to give way for Kerry Washington’s pregnancy. In another report from TV Line, Shonda Rhimes did not include in the storyline that Olivia Pope will be having a baby for the season.

It can be recalled that during Kerry Washington’s first pregnancy, Shonda Rhimes did not also include a pregnancy storyline in the season 3. Kerry Washington’s character only had smaller screen times and the show’s episode order was cut from 22 to 18.

Despite Kerry Washington’s pregnancy, she does not stop from filming for the next season.

She told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview that she and the staff are doing their best to hide her baby bump for her scenes, ABC News said in a report.

“Big coats, big bags…hiding behind different body parts of other actors,” she said, adding that in some scenes, she positions herself in the back.

“Scandal” season 6 delayed release date will also means there is one missing in Shonda Rhimes’ “Thank God It’s Thursday” line-up which also comprise of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away With Murder.”

However, the drama series will be replaced by ABC’s new offering, “Notorious” which started its airing last September 22.
