The casts of ABC’s “Scandal” would be supporting Hillary Clinton. The cast would be doing a fundraiser for Clinton in Washington on April 27.
The cast members of the show “Scandal” who would be headlining the fundraiser for Clinton were Tony Goldwyn (unfaithful president), Bellamy Young (first lady), Guillermo Diaz, Katie Lowes and Jeff Perry. However, the president’s mistress in the show, portrayed by Kerry Washington would not be attending the event. According to Page Six, her spokeswoman said, “She’s a huge Hillary supporter. She’s just not in town yet to attend the event.”
Clinton would not be seen in the fundraiser but her closest aide and campaign vice chairwoman, Huma Abedin would be filling up for her. She would be attending along with senior policy adviser, Jake Sullivan. The two were also involved in Clinton’s own Chappaqua scandal.
According to Variety, the fundraiser tickets would start at $250 per person and whoever would raise $5,000 would get to co- host the event and be invited for a cast reception.
In a report by Fox News, it was not unusual for the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, to raise a money for a Democratic candidate. She had appeared in Clinton campaign ads, she had raised more money for Democrats, and she even invited Clinton for a visit on set of “Scandal.”
What would seem unusual was that the show had not oversee what it would imply to viewers if the casts and scandal- ridden aides would be seen together. Abedin and Sullivan were the two highest-placed Clinton aides which were involved in the Chappaqua scandal.
Abedin was the one who had sent and received classified information through the Chappaqua server. The emails showed Clinton asking her to print classified emails from Tony Blair to Jacob Sullivan. The emails were sent through Clinton and Sullivan’s non- state government email accounts.
