It has always been an issue for OEMs to catch up with all the updates that Google releases. Consequently, it has been months since Google released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update but Samsung has yet to deliver it to all intended devices. The company released a roadmap previously on intended devices with corresponding dates, but that may change as news broke out recently saying that Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 and Note 4 will be updated to Marshmallow in second quarter of this year. While this will be several weeks away, it should just be a matter of time since first quarter is nearly over.
Nonetheless, Neurogadget points out that such delay may be a problem soon since Google already announced the Android N update. This means that companies will have to catch up once more even without Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout completion. The Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is already seeding to devices like Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ in South Korea. Such differences in schedule may be more of a hassle for Samsung Galaxy S4, S5 and Note 4, once the Android N becomes available, the devices will have to catch up to more updates.
In line with all the Android updates going on, there are several noteworthy features on the said firmware. According to Gotta Be Mobile, these include split-screen multitasking and multi-window mode. Both features will allow a Windows-like approach to Android mobile. Android N is also poised to allow users to resize apps which many analysts see as promising for all devices. Google is expected to release the firmware during the I/O conference.
