Ronda Rousey, former reigning and undefeated Bantam Weight Champion in the Women’s Category for the UFC, suffered a devastating loss to challenger and now Bantam Weight Champion for Women’s Division Holly Holm earlier this month.
Until now, Rousey claimed that she has not recovered from the fight and cannot even manage to bite on an apple as her jaw is still jumbled. Poor Ronda! According to news.com.au, Rousey, one of the most famous female athletes of this generation, will be featured in ESPN The Magazine this week. In compliance, the former Bantam Weight Champion for Women’s Division player engaged in an interview with Romana Shelburne, who covered her fight against Holly Holm earlier this month.
During the said interview, Melbourne said, “Stitches in her (Ronda) lip still dissolving, and a few of her teeth still unstable from Holm’s fight-ending kick to the face.” Accordingly, Rousey stated that she was “really f***ing sad” when she looks back on her defeat to the newly established champion from her weight division.
Furthermore, the athlete also claimed she may not be able to go back into the ring for a longer time: three to six months, to be exact. She claimed she even has difficulty eating an apple, let alone take a punch or another good hit from whoever she will face for her next fight.
Rousey has been yearning to retire from the UFC as an undefeated champion but alas, Holly Holm put her down. Rousey stated, “Maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done but f*** it, maybe I can.” She also added that she does not wish to change her personality due to the defeat and would remain as opinionated as she were while she was still champion.
In other news, Daily Mail reported that Rousey still received tremendous amounts of support and recognition from fans and the entertainment industry despite her loss. In fact, the athlete was recognized as a part of “Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of 2015.” The said episode will be featured on December 17.
It was a humiliating fall for former undefeated Bantam Weight Champion Ronda Rousey when Holly Holm ended their fight with a kick to the face. Despite the athlete’s slow recovery and dislodged jaw, she will be featured in ESPN The Magazine. It wasn’t much of a loss to Rousey after all!
