Rogue One, the upcoming Star Wars film about the mission to steal the Death Star blueprints, is slowly approaching its release date. With fans eager to know more details, actor Mads Mikkelsen has accidentally revealed major spoilers about his role in the film.

Movie Pilot reported that Mikkelsen did an interview with UK’s Sky News and unknowingly revealed spoilers about the film. The actor quickly stopped and admitted that he has revealed too much.

In the interview, Mikkelsen told Sky News that he has read the script and described it as very beautiful. He added that Felicity Jones is playing a lovely, strong woman and that he is Felicity’s father in the film.

Now that may not reveal much content-wise, but the fact that Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso, the lead protagonist, reveals more about his character. Earlier, he also stated that he is not going to be a villain in the film, which would make sense if he is indeed Jyn’s father.

According to Gizmondo, it is not known how Jyn’s father will appear in Rogue One as it was made clear in the trailer that Jyn has been alone since she was 15. It is possible that Mikkelsen might appear in a flashback showing his death, which might have prompted Jyn to join the rebels.

Although we can’t throw off the possibility that Mikkelsen might be joking about his role, it is a pretty substantial reveal. We might need to see a few more trailers, spoilers, and interviews to get the full picture.

The movie is pivotal in the whole story of the Star Wars saga. It started the events that would eventually lead to the destruction of the Galactic Empire and the restoration of the Old Republic.

“Rogue One” will come between Star Wars Episode 7 and Episode 8, and it is set to be released on December 16, 2016.
