Robots would soon replace human soldiers in the battlefield and the stories of their grieving families by that time, would become a thing of the past, an expert said.
US Presidential candidate Zoltan Istvan said sending human soldiers in the warzones would become obsolete in the next 10 years. This, if the advancement in military technology will continue its current pace, the Express reported.
A known transhumanist, Istvan noted that it won’t be long enough before countries in the West, which will be headed by the United States, would abandon a warfare fought by humans. Transhumanist is a new movement that promotes the utilization of robots and machines in performing various human functions.
The presidential wannabe said in just five years from now, war planes will soon operate without human intervention. This brings some familiar scenes from popular sci-films into life.
Robots, Machines In Battlefield
“The other day they sat down 500 of the best navy helicopter pilots in a room and said ‘so I know you’ve all been training for your Top Gun missions and you want to go into the field and do this but over the next few years we’re going to be phasing out all manned helicopter missions and you’re going to be sitting at an office in Washington DC flying drone helicopters, so be prepared,” Istvan told the Express.
In his personal website, apart from being a transhumanist, the 44-year-old presidential candidate described himself as a philosopher, futurist, journalist, and speaker.
He is also an author who has published a book titled “The Transhumanist Wager” where he described in detail how robots and high-tech machines would turn the world and soon replace functions that are typically done carried out by humans. This movement, according to him, would soon determine the direction of humanity in the next decades.
